How do I stop Bamboo Palm taking over my garden?

Can you answer Meikstar's question about Bamboo?:

I have recently replanted a garden bed replacing Bamboo Palm with Foxtail Grass. The Bamboo Palm is driving me crazy and keeps growing at an uncontrollable rate. How can I kill the Bamboo Palm forever?

Have you claimed your Genesis site?

Bobbi is right, but make sure that all other plants are kept away while you put the salt on the roots. ill see what else I can find in the mean time.

Rent a backhoe and operator and dig it up. The roots go deep so hand shoveling probably won't go deep enough. Bamboo is very very invasive.

The salt suggestion is not bad as long as you do not want to plant anything in the salted area for many many years.

If you ever plant bamboo again plant it in pots or some other way so the roots cannot spread

I've been tackling my neighbours which invades my garden every year. I certainly can't salt the roots as that makes part of my garden unusable. I cover it with a black bag which it doesn't like and dies down for a while, then hand dig out as much as possible.

There are 2 kinds of bamboo running and clumping….Running is invasive..and only way to get rid of it is
see below
To get rid of running bamboo, you have to remove every rhizome–and any rhizome or root fragments.,,HGTV_3607_1729272,00.html
You have several recommendations of what to do. I'm not aware of any of these that work.
What's the Difference Between Running Bamboos and Clumping Bamboos?
PICK ANY ONE THE THESE URLS and they all say the same thing.*-http%253A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fsearch&ico-wikipedia-search-value=http%3A%2F%2Frds.yahoo.com%2F_ylt%3DArrxu7fDIgeSuyhSxLpsmQAazKIX%3B_ylv%3D0%2FSIG%3D121ltt5iq%2FEXP%3D1203680617%2F*-http%253A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FSpecial%253aSearch&p=bamboo+palm+running+or+clumping
The problem is we don't know which specific one you have, all nurserys have their own names. You can use the tarp method and cover it to stop the growth. Just make sure it doesn't grow beyu the tarp or it will come back.

put lots of slat water on the roots and cut it away. if you ever consider a bamboo plant again you should keep it in a pot so it doesnt take over your yard.

depending on the size… go to GOODWILL get some nice pots or pretty glass…and pot the plants and make some money on the side of the road or your grandchildren can sell them at their house… we made over $300.00 selling them.
