Can bamboo be used for medicinal purposes?

Answered By Belinda Aldworth, Editor

Chinese people have been using bamboo and its part as a medicinal plant. They have used the bamboo sap, the bamboo leaves, bamboo shavings etc. in order to cure common diseases. The bamboo sap collected in the joints of the bamboo is used to resolve phlegm. The bamboo sap also cures cough or can regain an unconscious person. The leaves of the bamboo are boiled and the tea that can be extracted from it may be used to treat fever. There are still many parts of the bamboo that can be used as natural herbal alternative medicine.
